Yes! That’s what being daring means!
“Deesa”, how many people have heard the name? Well, its a majorly populated farmer community whom no one knew at one point in time and today Deesa appears in the global “wafer” processing market. 44 years old Devchand Solanki, who used to grow potatoes once is now setting up his own wafer manufacturing plant and taking tthe entrepreneurial route towards his dreams. So somewhere next february we will see competition to Pepsico and the likes.
So a home grown bradn of popular wafers, how much does that appeal to the indian audience, is still to be seen. Today Deesa has almost 38,000 hectares of land which is catering to buyers like Mccain, ITC Foodds, Britannia, Parle (some of the most popular Indian food brands). The farmers in this region of the country have prospered due to this growth.
An interesting story is of Chamanbhai Mistry, who turned from being a farmer to a trader and is probably the largest supplier to Mccain foods and is soon launching his own factory.
So its all about dreaming and daring…and the opportunties do come along.
